HBO Max to produce animated series based on British royals

The Royals are possibly going to be the next big thing on television, after the Kardashians. Well kind of, except that they’ll be cartoons as opposed to being live characters.

HBO Max has begun working on an animated comedy series based on the British royal family, titled The Prince. The show is being written and produced by Gary Janetti, the force behind Will & Grace and Family Guy.

The series is scripted through the point-of-view of Prince George, the eldest son of Prince William and Kate Middleton, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge. It is based on the Instagram account run by Janetti.

Janetti has managed to gather an impeccable cast to voice the characters, comprising of himself as Prince George, Orlando Bloom as Prince Harry Iwan Rheon as Prince William, Condola Rashad as Meghan Markle, Lucy Punch as Kate Middleton, Tom Hollander as Prince Philip and Prince Charles and Frances de la Tour as Queen Elizabeth. Alan Cumming will voice Owen, Prince George’s butler.

Deadline first reported the news of the series in the works and described it as:

a biting, satirical look at the life of Prince George of Cambridge, the youngest heir to the British throne, as he navigates the trials and tribulations of being a royal child.

Deadline

The series will follow 6-year-old Prince George and his life in the Buckingham palace amongst his family’s several pets and his interactions with ‘commoners’.
