Happier than Ever on Disney+: Concert film on Billie Eilish’s hometown

Disney+ has announced that ‘Happier than Ever: A Love Letter to Los Angeles’ will air globally on the streaming platform from September 3. The film showcases Grammy award winner, Billie Eilish, in a unique cinematic concert, shot at the Hollywood Bowl with Gustavo Dudamel, conducting the Los Angeles Philharmonic.

‘Happier than Ever: A Love Letter to Los Angeles’ follows the release of ‘Happier Than Ever’, Eilish’s second album on July 30, after her acclaimed 2020 debut album, ‘When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?’

The concert film, animated in parts, is an ethereal tribute to Eilish’s hometown of Los Angeles and its evocative environs. Besides herself, her Grammy winning producer-brother Finneas also features in the film along with the Los Angeles Children’s Chorus, Brazilian guitarist, Romero Lubambo, and orchestra arranger David Campbell.

Made under the banner of Interscope Films and Darkroom Productions, in association with Nexus Studios and Aron Levine Productions, ‘Happier than Ever: A Love Letter to Los Angeles’ is directed by Robert Rodriguez and Patrick Osborne. Kerry Asmussen serves as the live concert director and Pablo Berron as the director of photography.

Eilish mentioned that she considers the collaboration of her concert film with Disney as an honour. She is excited for the venture that expresses her gratitude for the city she grew up in, and hopes that the viewers would love to see the dedication.

Rodriguez stated that the narrative story and animated pieces have been spectacularly woven through her incredible concert performance making it truly unique.

Gary Marsh, President and Chief Creative Officer, Disney Branded Television, proclaimed Eilish as one of the premiere artists and storytellers of present generation who will “deliver a concert experience like no other”.
