Hans Zimmer creates extended version for Netflix’s signature sound

The iconic composer Hans Zimmer has created an extended version of Netflix’s signature “ta-dum” sound that plays at the beginning of every original created by the streaming platform.

The new sound was created to play for any Netflix original movie that receives a theatrical release. Zimmer is known for his work in legendary films like Interstellar, Inception, The Lion King and Dunkirk amongst others.

The composer has worked with the streaming giant before for the creation of powerful opening themes for The Crown.

Zimmer’s new original soundtrack was revealed on Twitter:

Todd Yellin, Vice President of Product at Netflix claimed: “First off, and arguably most important, it had to be really short,”

Speaking about the new composition and the intention behind it, Yellin continued:

“In our age of click and play, you get to Netflix, you want to be able to click, and there’s no patience, you just want to get to what you’re watching.”
