The film was earlier scheduled to release on 13 March 2020 but due to the health crisis and the lockdown, the makers decided to push forward the release to 24 April 2020.

But keeping in mind the seriousness of the situation, the team decided to release Gunjan Saxena on a digital platform. The rights were acquired by Netflix and soon the film will be available on the digital platform worldwide.

Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl is directed by Sharan Sharma and is backed by Dharma Productions and Zee Studios. The film will see Pankaj Tripathi essaying the role of Gunjan’s father and Angad Bedi as her brother.

The film joins a long list of slated theatrical releases that are now considering streaming platforms for their release such as the Akshay Kumar’s Laxmmi Bomb and the Abhishek Bachchan and Sanya Malhotra starrer Ludo.

The latest film to announce a world premiere on a streaming platform is Amitabh Bachchan and Ayushmann Khurrana’s Gulabo Sitabo.
