Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl to release on Netflix: Reports

Amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, several films have been forced to either push their release or resort straight to OTT platforms. This also includes the Janhvi Kapoor starrer Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl.

The cast of Gunjan Saxena also includes Pankaj Tripathi (Mirzapur), Angad Bedi (State vs Nanavati) and Manav Vij (Udta Punjab) amongst others.

Tripathi will be seen playing the role of Gunjan’s father.

The biopic was all set to make its theatrical release on April 24, 2020. However, as per some reports, it will most likely be released on Netflix this year.

Kapoor who played the lead role of Gunjan Saxena took to Instagram earlier last year to reveal the poster of the film:

The movie is produced by Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions and Zee Studios. Zee Studios also released a touching first look between Tripathi and Kapoor as well in 2019:

The film joins a long list of slated theatrical releases that are now considering streaming platforms for their release such as the Akshay Kumar led Laxmmi Bomb and the Abhishek Bachchan and Sanya Malhotra starrer Ludo.

The latest film to announce a world premiere on a streaming platform is Ayushmann Khurrana and Amitabh Bachchan’s Gulabo Sitabo.

The movie is all set to skip theatrical release and premiere on Amazon Prime Video India.

The movie is a biopic of Indian Air Force’s flight lieutenant Gunjan Saxena. She marked her name in her history by being the first female officer to go to war. She was also responsible for rescuing several soldiers during the time of Kargil War.
