Guilty (Netflix India): The many faces of ‘truth’

After making her digital debut with Lust Stories in 2018, Kiara Advani is back with another Netflix original – Guilty.

Made under Karan Johar’s digital content production house ‘Dharmatic’, Guilty will feature her in the lead role.

The actor took to Twitter to announce her upcoming project and unveiled the first poster of the film.

The poster shows the actor in a never-seen-before avatar. With a septum ring and blonde highlights, it seems that Advani will be sporting a grunge look.

Directed by Ruchi Narain, Guilty will be the story of a musician’s girlfriend who has a mind of her own. In an interview, Kiara called her character the “antithesis” of Preeti from Kabir Singh.

Dharmatic Entertainment’s Johar also shared the poster on Twitter with this caption:

“@advani_kiara…a raw poetic playlist and a mystery – aap convince ho gaye ya aur bataun? #Guilty trailer out tomorrow.”

The trailer released on Youtube reveals enough to stir the interest of the viewers. Set in Delhi, Guilty will centre around Nanki (Advani) and her Doobydo Crew bandmates- Tashi, Hardy, and Vijay “VJ” Pratap Singh. The trailer shows the life of these four popular college students who “like to live wild.” But things take a serious turn when a small-town girl, Tanu accuses Nanki’s boyfriend “VJ” of rape. The tussle between rich “upper-class English Medium” and the under-privileged will form the core of the film.

Guilty will explore the multiple versions of ‘truth’ that emerge and make us question who is truly ‘guilty’.

Guilty will release on March 6, 2020.
