Based on the bestselling book by Cecily von Ziegesar, the ten part web series hails from the original creators Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage. Josh Safran, the writer and producer of the original series will pick up his pen again and take the role of the showrunner.

The Tony winning actress will be joining Emily Alyn Lind, Tavi Gevinson, Whitney Peak, Eli Brown, Johnathan Fernandez, Jason Gotay, Savannah Smith, Zion Moreno and Jordan Alexander. The Good Place star Kristen Bell, who was the voice behind “Good morning, Upper East Siders,” will be seen reprising her role as the narrator.

The original series, starred Blake Lively, Taylor Momsen, Leighton Meester and Ed Westwick, ran from 2007 to 2012. Since then a lot has changed, especially in terms of social media and the web space. It goes without saying that the fresh batch of Upper East Siders are in for a treat.

The reboot was initially slated to premiere in the fall of 2020, but due to unprecedented circumstances and COVID-19’s impact on production the web series has now been pushed to 2021. The Gossip Girl reboot is produced by Warner Bros Television and CBS Television Studios.
