Gina Carano axed from ‘The Mandalorian’ franchise

Gina Carano, famous for her role as Cara Dune in Disney Plus’ ‘The Mandalorian’ has been let go from the franchise according to Lucasfilm.

This news has come after Carano posted a controversial statement on her social media account equating contemporary political differences to the conditions of Jews under the Nazis.

Her insensitive statement stirred up the people and in no time #FireGinaCarano was trending on social media platforms. This, however, is not the first time Carano has landed up in such controversy. Previously, her transphobic and anti-non-binary remarks made her the target of public annoyance.

Following the MMA-fighter-turned-actress’ contentious statement, the spokesperson from Lucasfilm release a statement saying:

“Gina Carano is not currently employed by Lucasfilm and there are no plans for her to be in the future. Nevertheless, her social media posts denigrating people based on their cultural and religious identities are abhorrent and unacceptable.”
