Frozen 2 gets early release on Disney+

Disney released the sequel for its animated film Frozen on Disney+ three months ahead of its scheduled date; Frozen 2 was not going to be available on the platform before June 2020.

The Coronavirus panic is spreading as fast as the disease itself. Amid the crisis, public gatherings have been banned and self-quarantining has become extremely important. The March release of the film comes as a relief to parents around the globe whose children would not be attending schools for weeks or months even.

Disney’s statement attributed the early release of the film to “surprising families with some fun and joy during this challenging period”. Its release on Disney+ comes only weeks after its launch on VOD platforms and physical formats.

Frozen 2 was a blockbuster film, with a much appreciated soundtrack, which grossed over $1.4 billion worldwide. The cast of the film includes Kristen Bell, Idina Menzel, and more.

Disney came bearing surprises not just for children but for adults as well. Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, which was to be made available on VOD platforms later in March, has also made an early debut on these platforms.

Thanks to Disney, it seems like being stuck at home would not be as boring as expected.
