Food For Thought: ZEE5’s short film brings out clash of opinions

The trailer for the short film, Food For Thought, has been released by ZEE5. The comedy film is set to premier on 15 April as part of their short film festival.

Food For Thought is based on the meeting of two very different families, who have gathered to see if their children are compatible for an arranged marriage. Simran’s family is modern and broad-minded while the prospective groom’s family is conservative with a set of age-old values and expectations.

The trailer shows the boy’s family questioning the girl to see if she meets their requirements, but their questions surprise the girl’s family who cannot make sense of the meaning behind them.

Although the short film is a comedy, it also comments on the expectations that society has from women and the different treatment meted out to men and women in an arranged marriage setting.

The film stars Rashi Mal, Abaan Deohans, Alka Amin, Atul, and Usha Nadkarni. It is directed by Tania Deohans.
