Synopsis

“Set in the iconic Fire Island Pines, FIRE ISLAND is an unapologetic, modern day rom-com inspired by Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice. The story centers around two best friends who set out to have a legendary week-long summer vacation with the help of cheap rosé and a cadre of eclectic friends.”

Other details

In an interview with Vanity Fair, Booster revealed that the idea for a queer adaptation of Pride and Prejudice came from his first trip to the Pines, when he carried a copy of the novel with him. He said: “Jane Austen’s observations about the way people are awful to each other without being awful to each other—I was like, Oh, my God. This is shade. This is what gay men do all the time.” He shelved the idea for years only for it to re-emerge in an essay about his connection to Austen as a gay man.

Trailer

Every year, Noah and Howie join their ‘makeshift little family’ for a week-long vacation at Fire Island, where time seems to work differently. They met a decade ago, working at a cursed brunch spot.

This year, they bump into two wealthy guys from the other side of the island, who happen to own a house on the beach. Sparks fly between the pairs and drama ensues.
