Criminal Justice released on April 5 via Hotstar Specials. It’s the latest offering in a flurry of web series being launched as streaming platforms continue their rise.
TVF came out with Tripling season 2 on the same day which gained mostly positive reactions from critics and audiences. Criminal Justice is being accepted with the same warmth.
While some reviews criticised the inconsistent writing, all agreed that it was more than compensated by the brilliant performances from its cast.
The duo of Pankaj Tripathi and Vikrant Massey has been popular among fans and can do no wrong at the moment. They were loved for their roles in Amazon Prime’s Mirzapur, and it’s no different with Criminal Justice. Even the bindass film star Jackie Shroff has made stellar web series debut.
Fans flooded social media with praises regarding their latest performance:
Tripathi and Massey are constantly adding feathers to their caps. While they were already starring in conventional movies, the web space has allowed them another platform to showcase their acting talent.
Shroff is the latest film actor to join the web series bandwagon. With what’s looking like another successful entry, it’ll be interesting to see if more film stars join the online route in the near future.
Criminal Justice is a remake of a British show with the same name which ran on BBC from 2008-2009.
