Evil Eye: Amazon Prime Video’s paranoiac original film

Amazon Prime Video has released the trailer for Evil Eye, an upcoming horror-thriller co-produced by Priyanka Chopra’s Purple Pebble Productions and Blumhouse Productions.

Based on an award-winning, best-selling Audible Original production from writer Madhuri Shekar, Evil Eye is directed by Elan and Rajeev Dassani. The film features Sarita Choudhury, Sunita Mani, and Omar Maskati in a complex matrix of toxic relationships.

The trailer for the film portrays Choudhury and Mani as the mother-daughter duo Usha and Pallavi. Beginning on a harmless note of accidental encounters and cliched pickup lines, the trailer starts with Pallavi meeting the man of her dreams.

However, things quickly pick up pace as Sarita’s past begins to surface, infusing a paranoia that threatens to envelop her daughter’s relationship.

Back in August, Amazon Prime Video unveiled Welcome to the Blumehouse series, with eight features from the production house that will premiere directly on the OTT platform.

The line-up includes Evil Eye, Veena Sud’s The Lie, Emmanuel Osei-Kuffour Jr’s Black Box, and Zu Quirke’s Nocturne that will be releasing this year; the remaining four are scheduled for release in 2021.

The announcement reads:

Blumhouse Productions is famed for its low-budget horror and psychological thrillers, having worked on titles like Paranormal Activity, Insidious, The Purge, The Gift, Split and Get Out.
