Soulsathi: Adah Sharma’s quest for more than superficial love on Eros Now

Eros Now released the official trailer of Soulsathi, an original film which is set to debut on the streaming platform on September 14, 2020.

Starring Adah Sharma, Sehban Azim, and Vandana Pathak; the story of the short film revolves around Preeti, a woman who seems to be having an issue with men. On her journey to find her soulmate [sathi translates to partner], she comes across quite the mismatched suitors while searching for ‘the one’.

Written and directed by Abir Sengupta, the trailer opens on meetings of the main character Preeti with a couple of prospective suitors one after the other. But all of them make suggestive gestures or remarks about her voluptuous figure.

Preeti, enacted by the spunky Adah Sharma (Commando 3, 1920), is in a double role here. She stars as both Preeti, and her inner voice. It troubles Preeti that nobody seems to be interested in the real her, rather everyone seems to be in love with what they see.

With a modern and quirky take on the Rabindranath Tagore classic patriotic song ‘Ekla Chalo Re’, which has been romanticised in Soulsathi to ‘For how long will you fly solo, two is company’, the soundtrack sounds promising.
