Netflix’s latest ‘Equinox’ boasts parallel worlds and more

Netflix has unveiled a Dark-esque teaser for its upcoming Danish web series, Equinox. A character-driven supernatural thriller about a young woman named Astrid, the web series oscillates between two time periods, 1999 and the present.

The web series is based on the acclaimed podcast series Equinox 1985 that topped the iTunes podcast chart locally with its radical take on audio. Tea Lindeberg adapted the podcast for the streaming giant, serving as the creator of the upcoming show.

Composed of six episodes, Equinox promises a riveting narrative full of inexplicable mysteries. Per the official description, it is the year 1999 when “a class of graduating students inexplicably disappears without a trace. Astrid, who is the sister of one of the missing students becomes traumatized and plagued by horrific visions after her sister’s disappearance. 21 years later in 2020, Astrid now hosts a late-night radio show when all of a sudden her nightmares reappear.”

In the present Astrid is approached by a glitchy voice from the past during her live broadcast. Jakob Skipper reveals himself to be one of the three survivors from 1999, claiming to know Ida and the truth behind the events from the past.

When he dies mysteriously shortly after their brief interaction, Astrid is determined to find out what happened to her sister and the class, only to discover a dark and unsettling truth.

The show features an ensemble cast including Danica Curcic, Viola Martinsen, Hanne Hedelund, Lars Brygmann, Karoline Hamm, Fanny Leander Bornedal, August Carter with Ask Emil Mossberg Truelsen and Alexandre Willaume. This will be the second Danish Original series on the platform.

Equinox is slated to debut worldwide on December 30. Check out the chilling teaser below:
