HBO Max released the final trailer of its highly anticipated science-fiction film ‘Dune’. Based on Frank Herbert’s novel of the same name, the larger-than-life project is helmed by critically acclaimed filmmaker Denis Villeneuve.
Dune narrates the tale of Paul Atreides, a gifted young man born to Duke Leto Atreides and Lady Jessica, who inherits the stewardship of the deserted planet Arrakis. Known for its exclusive supply of melange, a substance known to extend the life and offer superhuman capabilities, Paul must travel to Arrakis to protect what’s left from the rising forces trying to get their hands over the precious resource.
Dune trailer opens with the sumptuous landscape of Arrakis, and Chani cherishing the beauty of her land, while worrying about the threat it faces from the outsiders. As she calls out Paul’s name, Paul wakes up from a dream.
In another sequence, Paul bonds over with Duncan, the swordmaster, and narrates his dreams to him. Duncan, however, dismisses the possibility of any covert meaning.
The trailer then introduces us to House Atreides, determined to bring peace when shadow of fear casts upon Arrakis. When Paul finds something awakening in his mind, Chani replies “You need to face your fears.”
When the brutal and antagonistic forces of Harkonnens rise, Paul must be ready along with his people to face them. The remaining part of the trailer shows stunning visuals of battle, and Paul questioning his worth and the uncertain future.
Along with directing Dune, Villeneuve also co-wrote the script with Jon Spaihts and Eric Roth. The movie features a star-studded cast that includes Timothée Chalamet, Rebecca Ferguson, Oscar Isaac, Zendaya, Josh Brolin, Dave Bautista, Jason Momoa, Stellan Skarsgård, Stephen McKinley Henderson, Chang Chen, David Dastmalchian, Sharon Duncan-Brewster, Charlotte Rampling, and Javier Bardem.
Hans Zimmer composes the background score, while Greig Fraser holds the credit for the cinematography. Dune is all set to be out in theatres and on HBO Max on October 22, after being delayed due to the pandemic.
