‘Guardians of Galaxy’ director, James Gunn has revealed the first poster and release date for ‘I Am Groot’, which is a spin-off to the original series. The new Marvel project will premiere on August 10 on Disney+ and focus on Baby Groot’s shenanigans.
The poster sees Baby Groot having the time of his life as he relaxes with headphones and a drink. The project will consist of various shorts and will feature the titular tree along with other characters.
Gunn, who has helmed both the Guardians films will return to wrap up the franchise with a third one which is scheduled for a 2023 release. While responding to a question about this spin-off he confirmed that these will be animated shorts and will not be a part of the Guardians saga since Groot is a teenager now in the main MCU continuity.
The director is also working on the ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special’, which is scheduled to release during the 2022 holiday season.
