Disney+ Hotstar’s ‘OK Computer’ depicts tech-dominated future

Disney+ Hotstar has released the trailer for its upcoming sci-fi comedy titled, ‘OK Computer’. The series will release on March 26.

Set in a fictional 2031 Mumbai, ‘OK Computer’ showcases a world enriched with technological advancements. On an unfortunate night, a self-driving taxi runs over a person, raising a critical question — who takes the blame? The artificial intelligence or the humans responsible for its creation?

Enter Cyber Cell agent, Hari Kundu (Vijay Varma), and a robot welfare organisation owner, Laksmi (Radhika Apte), as they team up and discover that the car’s systems were hacked to execute the victim. The show also stars Jackie Shroff and Rasika Dugal in pivotal roles along with a foray of CGI robots.

According to the official description:

“OK Computer focuses on the battle between ideologies for and against technology, and poses the larger question of ‘Has AI which was created by humans, and which humans came to rely on now stopped being a boon and has instead begun to be annoying, overpowering, or harmful?”

The show has been created and directed by Pooja Shetty & Neil Pagedar, with the duo also producing along with ‘Ship of Theseus’ director, Anand Gandhi. In a statement, Gandhi mentioned that he hopes OK Computer “opens up the floodgates for science fiction entertainment in India.”
