Disclosure: Netflix documentary on trans depiction

Netflix recently released the trailer for Disclosure: Trans Lives on Screen, a documentary that encourages discussion on trans depiction in cinema

The documentary is helmed by leading transgender, non-binary and gender non-confirming creators and thinkers who bring their experience on the table and generate discourse.

The trailer initiates with a statistic that says: ‘Over 80% of Americans don’t personally know someone who’s transgender.’ The lack of awareness and acceptance towards the LGBTQ+ community is talked about.

D. W. Griffith’s cinema is also criticized in the trailer for his superficial depiction of gender non-confirming people. The team recently also showed support to Elliot Page’s open letter.

In this documentary, leading trans creatives and thinkers share heartfelt perspectives and analysis about Hollywood’s impact on the trans community.

It is available to stream on Netflix.
