Official poster for Kajol’s short film ‘Devi’ is here

In the last five years, we have seen a tremendous rise in the popularity of digital series and films in India. And it seems that Bollywood is also catching up with the trend. With popular actors like Saif Ali Khan(Sacred Games), Manoj Bajpayee(The Family Man), Huma Qureshi(Leila) featuring in successful web shows, other celebrities are also turning towards the digital space.

The latest Bollywood actor to add her name to the list is Kajol Devgn.

The actor took to Instagram to announce the news of her digital debut with a short film Devi.

She revealed the first poster of the film with the caption, “A tale of nine women navigating through an unusual sisterhood thrust upon them by circumstance. The teaser of our powerful short film drops on 24th February 2020!”

Devi will be the story of nine women from diverse backgrounds and will explore the stories of their suffering. With Devgn in the centre, the poster features the rest of the cast.

The short film will also star Shruti Haasan, Neha Dhupia, Neena Kulkarni, Mukta Barve, Sandhya Mhatre, Rama Joshi, Shivani Raghuvanshi, and Yashaswini Dayama.

When asked about her debut, Devgan had this to say:

“I couldn’t have chosen a better subject than Devi for my first short film. It’s a poignant film, one that needs to be shared with the world, especially today.”

The actor also revealed that her while her character Jyoti is vastly different from her, they share a lot too. She further stated:

In today’s times when gender discrimination, abuse, and violence is being spoken about vociferously, films like Devi are far more relevant and I am glad to have got the opportunity to participate.

Devi is written and directed by debutant Priyanka Banerjee.

The trailer will release on 24 February 2020.
