Manoj Bajpayee to play journalist in ‘Despatch’

RSVP Films, Ronnie Screwvala’s production house, announced the release of Manoj Bajpayee starrer crime thriller ‘Despatch’. Directed by Kanu Behl, this film is about how an investigative journalist (Bajpayee) gets entangled in the criminal underworld and conspiracy. It is set to release on an OTT platform.

Bajpayee said in a statement: “As an actor I want to be part of stories that I want to tell and that deserve to be told. ‘Despatch’ is one such film.”

With ‘Mrs. Serial Killer’ released last year on Netflix and ‘Dial 100’ up for release this year, alongside the second season of the Amazon Prime produced web-series ‘The Family Man’, crime thrillers have been the go-to genre for the versatile actor in recent times.

Behl, the director of the film, is known for directing ‘Titli’ (2014), which impressed audiences in India and across the globe when it premiered in the Cannes Film Festival.

He has teamed up with Screwvala’s RSVP which has received tremendous success in the past, and has recently created ‘Ashwatthama’, ‘Past Five Midnight’ and ‘Pippa’.

The director has stated that now is a ‘pertinent moment’ for the release of this crime thriller.
