Other details

The series zeroes in on the investigations conducted by Tom Colbert, author of The Last Master Outlaw, who also worked as an executive producer on the show. His book focuses on the suspect, Robert Rackstraw, a retired pilot and ex-convict who had served in the Vietnam war.

In 1971, D. B. Cooper walked into an airport with a briefcase holding explosives and bought a ticket for a plane that he later hijacked. When his demands for $200,000 and four parachutes were met, he exited the jet plane by jumping out in the middle of the night, leaving behind a mystery that has baffled people for decades.

Due to the originality of his plan and its dramatic execution style, the public revered the criminal. In 2016, the FBI put a stop to the investigation and disclosed all of its evidence to the public. To this day, little is known about D.B. Cooper, his identity is a puzzle yet to be cracked.

Over the years, various citizen sleuths have found clues about the outlaw’s identity, causing various suspects to emerge, some of which are presented in the series, including him being a Korean war veteran, a Boeing editor, a librarian and pilot who underwent gender reassignment surgery in 1969 and a former World War II paratrooper.
