Cuban thriller Wasp Network all set to release on Netflix

Netflix India has announced that the Cuban thriller Wasp Network will be released on the streaming platform on June 19.

The cast of the movie includes Ana de Armas, Penélope Cruz, Edgar Ramírez, Wagner Moura and Gael García Bernal amongst others. Wasp Network is directed by French filmmaker Olivier Assayas.

Moura is well known for his performance as Pablo Escobar in the Netflix original Narcos.

The movie premiered at last year’s Venice Film Festival.

Wasp Network is based on a true story about five Cuban political prisoners known as the Cuban Five who were arrested in USA in the 90s for espionage and other charges. The story revolves around a Cuban pilot named René González who moves to Miami. He leaves his family behind only to join this bunch named the Wasp Network.

Netflix is known to create and release popular non-english shows and movies across its platform. This includes hits like Money Heist, Dark and Fauda.
