Emma Stone’s ‘Cruella’ to stream on Disney+ Hotstar from August 27

The live-action feature film ‘Cruella’, starring Emma Stone, is set to hit the OTT platform, Disney+ Hotstar, this Friday, August 27, in English, Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu.

Directed by Craig Gillespie and a screenplay by Dana Fox and Tony McNamara, from a story by Aline Brosh McKenna, Kelly Marcel, and Steve Zissis, the film is a crime comedy set in the United States.

The character of Emma Stone, Cruella de Vil, is taken from Dodie Smith’s 1956 novel ‘The Hundred and One Dalmatians’. It is the 101 Dalmatians franchise’s third live-action adaptation, and it serves as both a prequel and a reboot.

The story follows Estella, a brilliant and imaginative young thief who is determined to establish a reputation for herself with her designs.

She befriends a pair of adolescent criminals who share her penchant for mischief, and the three of them manage to make a living on the streets of 1970s London amid the punk rock revolution.

Meanwhile Baroness von Hellman, a chic and haute fashion legend, played by two-time Oscar winner Emma Thompson, takes a liking for Estella’s craft. However, their budding relationship takes a rocky turn and Estella envelopes herself in a life of wicked deeds and revenge.

Apart from the two stars, the film’s cast includes Joel Fry, Paul Walter Hauser, Emily Beecham, Kirby Howell-Baptiste, and Mark Strong.

Andrew Gunn, Marc Platt and Kristin Burr are the producers, with Emma Stone, Michelle Wright, Jared LeBoff and Glenn Close serving as executive producers.
