Netflix has dropped the trailer for the third season of its original series – The Crown. The upcoming season has a different cast from the previous ones.

The official synopsis reads: “As Queen Elizabeth II (Olivia Colman) faces a rapidly changing Britain, her family continues to struggle against the needs of the monarchy and the wants of their fracturing personal lives.”

Olivia Colman now plays the character of Queen Elizabeth II. Helena Bonham Carter can be seen in the trailer in significant scenes as the Queen’s sister – Princess Margaret.

This will mark Carter’s second role as a member of the monarchy. The actress also worked as Queen Mother in the movie The King’s Speech.

This season will also focus on the issues in the marriage of Princess Margaret and Lord Snowdon (Ben Daniels).

Erin Doherty will be playing the role of Charles’ sister – Princess Anne.

As per the trailer, this season also focuses on the coming of age of Prince Charles (Josh O’Connor). The trailer clip also shows the Queen’s Jubilee and the difficulties faced by the nation such as bankruptcy, changing political scenario and protests.

Season three will also concentrate on Charles’ love life, including his relationship with Camilla Shand.

Clare Foy, who was seen as Queen Elizabeth in the earlier seasons, had also received many awards and critical acclaim for her performance.

However, the decision of changing the cast was made to showcase the actual ageing of characters by casting age-appropriate actors.

The new season starts on November 17. You can catch the official trailer here:
