Disney+ Hotstar released an official trailer for the sequel season to its special, “Criminal Justice”. Titled, “Criminal Justice: Behind Closed Doors”, the web series is set to premiere on December 24.
This season will feature a new set of characters barring a few. Pankaj Tripathi will return as advocate Madhav Mishra who will tackle a brand new case.
The trailer showcases a murder trial involving Anu Chandra who admits to stabbing her husband in his sleep. It is deemed as an open & shut case due to her confession, but Mishra smells something fishy and decides to probe for the truth.
Talking about his character’s return, Tripathi said:
“It’s heartening to know that Madhav Mishra made such an impression on audiences that the makers brought him back for the second chapter – I hope that I can live up to the expectations! What I love about this character is his humility and quirk that cuts through intense moments with such humour and grace.”
Criminal Justice: Behind Closed Doors also stars Kirti Kulhari, Anupriya Goenka, Deepti Naval, Mita Vashisht, Ashish Vidyarthi, Jisshu Sengupta, Shilpa Shukla, Pankaj Saraswat, Ayaz Khan, Kalyanee Mulay, Ajeet Singh Palawat, Khushboo Atre, Tirrtha Murbadkar, among others.
It has been directed by Rohan Sippy along with Arjun Mukerjee, and the screenplay has been penned by Apurva Asrani.
Discussing the show’s decision to associate a woman with a brutal crime, Sippy said:
“A lot of research has gone behind the making of Criminal Justice: Behind Closed Doors, and it was crucial for us to approach the storyline insightfully and sensitively. We don’t often see portrayals of women accused of brutal crimes, and this is definitely one of the few shows that probes this aspect deeply. The series will make you question the very reality of today’s time.”
