Courteney Cox to star in new series for Spectrum Originals

Entertainment Weekly has confirmed that Friends alum Courteney Cox will star and executive produce a new series for Spectrum Originals.

It will be based on Netflix’s American documentary series Last Chance U’s Brittany Wagner. The show will mark Cox’s return to a series regular role since her portrayal of Jules Cobb in Cougar Town ended in 2015.

Hollywood Reporter, Deadline, stated that the role Cox will play is of the aforementioned Wagner, a former academic advisor at East Mississippi Community College. She worked to help and counsel struggling athletes in realising their full potential.

Last Chance U, which will release its fourth season on July 19, premiered in 2016.

It featured the football program at East Mississippi Community College in the first and second season, and Independence Community College in the third season. It especially focuses on the coaches, athletes and the staff of the community colleges.
