Apple TV+ has released the trailer for its newest addition, ‘Come From Away’. It is a Broadway musical recorded live on stage that recounts the true story of stranded passengers amid the 9/11 attacks.
Directed by Christopher Ashley and produced by Bill Condon, ‘Come From Away’ was shot live on stage in May at the Gerald Schoenfeld Theatre, in the presence of 9/11 survivors and frontline workers.
Inspired by the real-life experience of 7,000 aviation passengers trapped overseas in the aftermath of the terrorist attacks in New York City in 2001, Tony nominees Irene Sankoff and David Hein penned down the play.
The musical’s plot follows Joel Hatch introducing the little hamlet of Gander in Newfoundland, Canada, where various characters find themselves stuck without warning following the unusual events in New York City.
Therein, they find brotherhood and aid from the residents of the tiny town as they flock in to offer their help.
As the official description goes, the show narrates the tale of “7000 strays, 100s of characters, 38 planes, 12 actors, 1 incredible town that welcomed the world.”
The cast includes many original company members, including Hatch as Claude, Petrina Bromley as Bonnie, and Jenn Colella as Beverley/Annette.
Caesar Samayoa (Kevin J./Ali), Q. Smith as (Hannah), Astrid Van Wieren as (Beulah), and Sharon Wheatley (Diane) also find their place in the show.
In 2017, the production had its Broadway debut. In October 2021, ‘Come From Away’ will begin a tour of the United States and Canada, while it will appear on the OTT platform on September 10.
