‘Cinderella’ first look teases Camila Cabello as titular princess

Amazon Prime Video has dropped the first official teaser for its upcoming musical, ‘Cinderella’ that is going to be released on the platform on September 3. Camila Cabello makes her debut as the lead in the modern-day retelling of this eclectic fairy-tale classic.

The teaser shows ‘Cinderella’ as not your normal lovelorn princess looking for her prince and a happily ever after, but a sprightly girl with big dreams and a higher purpose. She plans to start her business called “Dresses By Ella” by making use of her immense talent for sewing and design.

Whether her dreams find a way to succeed in the big bad world, with her step-mother and step-sisters lurking around, is to be seen.

Going by a song that Ella sings in the teaser, her quest for an identity of her own and her dreams of a bigger and better life are revealed.

The soundtrack of the musical will have original tracks by Cabello herself and Idina Menzel, along with others global artists.

The stellar star cast of ‘Cinderella’ include Menzel as the evil stepmother, Billy Porter, Nicholas Galitzine, Pierce Brosnan, and Minnie Driver.

Billy Porter, who is an openly gay black actor, stated that ‘Cinderella’ is really a classic fairytale for a new generation that is ready to accept characters with fluid gender. The supporting cast also features James Corden, Romesh Ranganathan, and John Mulaney in important roles.

‘Cinderella’ is written and directed by Kay Cannon (Pitch Perfect Franchise) and produced by Leo Pearlman, James Corden, Jonathan Kadin, and Shannon McIntosh with Louise Rosner and Josephine Rose acting as executive producers.
