Cagaster of an Insect Cage: Netflix original anime based on terrifying plague

Netflix is set to release its latest original anime series titled ‘Cagaster of an Insect Cage’ on February 6 for the global audience.

The platform released a trailer on Twitter:

The plot revolves around the emergence of ‘Cagaster’, a disease which turns the infected into carnivorous insects.

As per the narration in the trailer, it takes merely 20 minutes, after first showing symptoms, for the infected to fully turn into an insect.

The moment one begins to show insect wings, they lose all human rights and it becomes perfectly legal to exterminate them.

30 years after Cagaster first appeared, a young exterminator and a teenage girl begin searching for her mother.

The trailer also shows two factions, one hell-bent on humans regaining their status as the dominant species, while another believes that Cagaster is the evolution of humans and the world shall become a place where only insects exist.

Netflix already has several high-profile anime to its name, including Castlevania, Kengan Ashura and 7Seeds.

Its repertoire also boasts of Devilman Crybaby, which won ‘Anime of the Year’ at Crunchyroll’s 2018 anime awards.
