Netflix’s official site sketches the film as:

A child bride grows up to be an enigmatic woman presiding over her household, harboring a painful past as supernatural murders of men plague her village.

The trailer paints a picture of mystery. A young Bulbbul is married off to a much older man but she grows up with her own desires. What’s in store for Bulbbul?

The movie stars Avinash Tiwary, Tripti Dimri and Rahul Bose at the forefront and is directed by Anvita Dutt who is making her directorial debut with Bulbbul.

Dutt said in a statement:

“For me, the story of Bulbbul is a lore. A fable. Much like the fairy tales of old that were cautionary tales for young girls. Stories that, wrapped in magic and myth, asked us to look beyond the obvious and warned us not to be a version of what others want to see in us. We sometimes forget that it is important for us to accept ourselves the way we are and I hope this film will act as a reminder of that.”

The film was first announced by Netflix as a part of nine originals films in 2018. It is set to release on June 24.

Sharma’s first digital production, Paatal Lok, on Amazon Prime Video, was applauded by the audience and the star dropped hints on the possibility of a second season for the show.
