Brand New Cherry Flavor on Netflix: Witchcraft for revenge

Netflix adds another American horror series to its collection, with ‘Brand New Cherry Flavor’ set to premiere on Friday, August 13.

Set in the backdrop of the 90s Hollywood scene, the eight-episode limited series is based on Todd Grimson’s 1996 cult classic novel of the same name.

Created by Nick Antosca and Lenore Zion, the plot showcases the life of a young filmmaker Lisa N. Nova (Rosa Salazar), who is abused by an apparent Oscar producer (Eric Lange) who uses his power to feed her lies about success and fame.

Lisa seeks retribution by enlisting the help of a tattoo artist (Catherine Keener), who also happens to be a witch, to place a curse on the man who betrayed her trust. However, dark magic has a cost, and Lisa ends herself exposing herself to demonic spirits in her quest for vengeance.

Netflix’s official synopsis for ‘Brand New Cherry Flavor’ reads:

“This isn’t your average revenge flick. A filmmaker heads to Hollywood in the early ‘90s to make her movie but tumbles down a hallucinatory rabbit hole of sex, magic, revenge – and kittens.”

‘Brand New Cherry Flavor’ will also star stars Jeff Ward, Manny Jacinto, Hannah Levien, Leland Orser and Patrick Fischler.
