In another welcoming scenario, Netflix along with Karl Schaefer and John Hyams has released a new web series titled ‘Black Summer’.
Set in a world overrun by zombies, the series follows Rose who is desperately looking for her daughter separated during the outbreak. The protagonist is played by model turned actress Jaime King who is known for her previous work in Sin City, My Bloody Valentine & the series Hart of Dixie.
The opening season, however, has opened to mixed critical reviews with approval ratings of 50% and 6.5/10 on Rotten Tomatoes & IMDB respectively. Audiences, however, are not finding the episodes all that bad. Check out some of the reactions:
Wasn’t expecting or intending to binge watch #BlackSummer in 2 days, but I enjoyed it. Some absolute stupid character decisions mind you! I did like the ending, scope for a series? I thought some of the camera work was great. #Netflix #blacksummernetflix

Development of Black Summer started in 2018 and the series itself is a prequel spin-off of a similarly themed work done by the same studio; The Asylum. Running a modest length of 8 episodes, the show released on Netflix just a few days ago and is available to stream now.
