Biggie: I Got a Story to Tell on Netflix: Celebrating The Notorious B.I.G.

Netflix released the official trailer for ‘Biggie: I Got a Story to Tell’ which is a documentary on the life and career of The Notorious B.I.G. It will begin streaming from March 1 on the platform.

The documentary celebrates the legendary hip-hop icon Christopher Wallace, aka The Notorious B.I.G. aka Biggie, known for his distinctive flow and autobiographical lyrics. The rapper was mysteriously murdered on March 9, 1997. This is also the first estate-approved documentary about the late legend.

The documentary also features exclusive behind-the-scenes videos filmed by Wallace’s best friend Damion “D-Roc” Butler and the testimonies of his friends and family.

‘Biggie: I Got a Story to Tell’ has been in making for almost four years. It was announced in 2017 with the title ‘One More Chance’, but completed recently.

Directed by Emmett Malloy, the documentary is executive produced by his mother Voletta Wallace, Sean Combs, Mark Pitts, Stanley Buchthal, and Emmett and Brendan Malloy.

Wayne Barrow, Notorious B.I.G.’s former manager and current estate manager shared:

“Mama Wallace and I had a conversation about creating the first Estate sanctioned documentary about BIG’s life and the initial thought was to have the story told from the perspective of his fans globally and how they were inspired by him and his music.”

Speaking about the project director Emmett Malloy said in a statement:

“The running joke about documentary films is often how long they take to make. This film lived up to all those stereotypes, taking us four years to develop and make it. Through those years we were immersed in Brooklyn in the 70s through the 90s. It is easy to see how much Brooklyn has changed since Christopher Wallace was a kid, but it’s also clear that many things about being a young black man in this country have not changed.”
