Following French Biriyani and Law, Bheemasena Nalamaharaja is the next Kannada film in line to take the digital route. Helmed by Karthik Saragur, the film stars Aravinnd Iyer, Aarohi Narayan and Priyankaa Thimmesh in lead roles and is slated to premiere on October 29 on Amazon Prime Video.
Produced by the trio of Hemanth M Rao, Pushkara Mallikarjunaiah and Rakshit Shetty, who have previously worked on “Godhi Banna Sadharana Mykattu”, Bheemasena Nalamaharaja is an ode to food and the nuances that are associated with it, with some family drama in the mix. In an interaction with Times of India, Saragur talked about the film:
“We wanted to do a film on food that reaches out to every age group. Today, sitting together for a meal at the dining table requires people to bury differences, come together and form a common ground. Every family can connect through food, we wanted to bring that out.
“The film is about family values and will also bring to light some interesting forms of food presentation. We have brought to screen the age-old, kai thuthu concept — food is rolled into balls and divided and placed on everyone’s hands to eat. We have also presented the classic ragi mudde. in the form of a Ganapathi idol. In that sense, it represents bhakthi (devotion) and shakti (strength),” the director added.
Filiming for Bheemasena Nalamaharaja wrapped up back in 2018, and since then fans have been anticipating its release. Though theaters have opened their shutters again with 50% occupancy, the filmmakers have opted for a risk-free route with digital release.
Manne No 13 is another Kannada film scheduled for a small-screen release. Earlier this month it was announced that the film will be releasing on Amazon Prime Video on November 19. Directed by Vivy Kathiresan the film features an ensemble cast with prominent faces from Kannada and Tamil film industries.
