Arnold Schwarzenegger spy series acquired by Netflix

Netflix has bagged the rights to develop an espionage series starring Arnold Schwarzenegger in the lead role. The untitled series will consist of 8 episodes.

As per the official details, the plot will explore the relationship of a father and a daughter, both of whom work secretly for the CIA. As they learn about this, they realize that their entire relationship has been a lie and they don’t truly know each other. When forced by circumstances to team up, they attempt to resolve their family issues against a backdrop of spies, action, and humour.

The project is created by Nick Santora (CBS’ Scorpion), who developed this idea as a part of his deal with Skydance Television. Schwarzenegger and Skydance have a long-established relationship as the latter produced the last two Terminator movies — Genisys and Dark Fate.

The series also stars Monica Barbaro (Top Gun: Maverick), who will portray the role of his daughter. Schwarzenegger is set to make his digital debut with this project.

Schwarzenegger said in a statement:

“Fans from all over the world have been asking me for a wild ride like this for years, and now they’re finally going to get it because of our great partners at Skydance and Netflix. I am beyond pumped to start work on the show with Nick and Monica and the whole team.”
