‘Army of the Dead’ gets 72 million views in under 2 weeks

Zack Snyder’s ‘Army of the Dead’ has hit a toll of 72 million views across the streamer. It has been the #1 film around the world and is projected to be one of Netflix’s most popular films ever in its first four weeks.

Produced by The Stone Quarry with a budget of over $70–90 million, ‘Army of the Dead’ is a horror film that follows a zombie outbreak in Las Vegas. Further, a crew of mercenaries decides to take the ultimate risk and enter the quarantine zone in order to pull off the largest robbery ever.

The film had its largest theatrical run in 600 theaters before being released on Netflix last Friday, May 21, is tied for the 9th most viewed film on the service with George Clooney’s The Midnight Sky as of May 2021.

The zombie troupe movie was No. 1 overall in 70+ countries and the top film in 90+ countries.

Dave Bautista, Ella Purnell, Ana De La Reguera, Theo Rossi, Huma Qureshi, Omari Hardwick, Tig Notaro, Hiroyuki Sanada, Garret Dillahunt, Matthias Schweighöfer, Ral Castillo, Nora Arnezeder, and Samantha Win are among the film’s all-star international cast.

Netflix has already shown the green light for an ‘Army of the Dead’ prequel directed by and starring Schweighöfer, which will follow his character Ludwig Dieter and will be released later this year.

‘Army of the Dead: Lost Vegas’ is an anime series that follows Bautista’s Scott and his rescue squad as they face the mystery root of the zombie epidemic during the first fall of Vegas.

For the anime series, Bautista, Ana de la Reguera, Tig Notaro, Omari Hardwick, and Ella Purnell will all reprise their roles. Snyder will direct two episodes of the series, with creator Jay Oliva directing two episodes as well.
