Two years after we last saw Takeshi Kovacs, a former mercenary turned investigator, Netflix has finally dropped the trailer for the newest season of Altered Carbon. Kovacs is back, better and as determined as ever.
Based on Richard K Morgan’s novel, Season 1, comprising 10 episodes, premiered in February 2018 on Netflix, garnering positive reviews from netizens worldwide. In July 2018, production for a season 2 was given the green light.
Altered Carbon followed Kovacs (Joel Kinnaman), embodied in a new ‘sleeve’, on his journey to uncover the murder of the wealthiest man in the world.
The sci-fi or cyberpunk web series is set in a 26th-century universe, where people’s consciousness can be transferred between bodies, by inserting it into new human ‘sleeves’.
The Season 2 trailer centres Anthony Mackie (Falcon from the Marvel Universe) as Takeshi Kovacs, headlining the new eight-episodic season. The storyline picks up from 30 years after the events that transpired in the first season. Kovacs is on the hunt for Quellcrist Falconer, the one that got away.
Now encased in a new sleeve, Kovacs has some major upgrades, including rapid healing and enhanced reaction time. In a certain scene in the trailer, he also shows signs of telekinesis.
Starring alongside Mackie is Renee Elise Goldsberry reprising her role as Quell, Lela Loren of Power fame, Daredevil alum Dina Shihabi, Simone Missick from Luke Cage and The Terror’s James Saito. It also features Chris Conner as Poe and Torben Liebrecht as Colonel Ivan Carrera.
