Castlevania spin-off announced by Netflix

Netflix has announced that it is expanding the Castlevania Universe with an all new series set in the revolutionary milieu of 1792 France. The spin-off will focus on Richter (the son of Sypha and Trevor Belmont) and Maria Renard.

The announcement came as part of the final day of Geeked Week, a virtual event that introduced several upcoming titles on Netflix, with their first-look feel, teasers, promos and updates.

Castlevania, modeled on a Japanese video game with the same name, is an original adult anime series produced by American animation producer Frederator Studios for Netflix.

Castlevania is set in a dark medieval fantasy world and revolves around a vampire hunter Trevor Belmont’s quest to protect the City of Gresit under siege by Dracula’s forces, who is out for revenge after humans burn his human wife, mistaking her for a witch.

The first three seasons of Castlevania were well-received and the fourth season started streaming from May 13.

The new announcement about the spin-off created a stir among devoted Castlevania fans, especially because the fourth season was announced to be its last.

Though Netflix confirmed that the spin-off to the flagship series is being developed, no official title or teaser was released at the wrap-up to the Geeked Week.
