Amazon Prime Video’s The Boys already renewed for season 3

Amazon Prime Video’s hit R-rated superhero web series ‘The Boys’ has been renewed for a third season even before the launch of season 2.

The announcement first came during the series’ Comic-Con@Home panel, where showrunner Eric Kripke also announced season 2 after-show ‘Prime Rewind: Inside The Boys’ hosted by actress Aisha Tyler.

Despite the renewal, the shooting stage is bound to be tricky. Kripke said in a statement:

“We hope to be shooting in early 2021, but that’s up to a microscopic virus. Seriously, thanks to Sony, Amazon and the fans. We love making this show so much, and we’re thrilled we get to make more.”

The season 1 of The Boys received rave reviews from critics and audiences alike, with fans demanding season 2 right after the launch.

While there have been halts in production due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the series was able to wrap up everything for the second season 2. It will come out on September 4.
