Amazon Prime Video released the teaser of Sons Of The Soil, its upcoming documentary series which will be available for streaming from December 4, 2020.
Directed by the award-winning Alex Gale, best known for character-driven documentary films exploring figures from the sports world, and television and documentary filmmaker Omkar Potdar; it chronicles the journey of the Jaipur Pink Panthers.
Sons Of The Soil takes us behind-the-scenes of one of India’s most celebrated Pro Kabaddi League team. The web series bares it all, the struggles, the pain, and the path towards success. It is about how a team, made up of distinctive individuals, comes together with an aim to win.
The official teaser starts quite dramatically with a voiceover: “Life is a journey, not a destination. In every loss, there is a lesson. And in every loss, there is a win.”
With a get-go and winning attitude, the kabaddi team is led by the franchise’s owner, the sporty actor Abhishek Bachchan. Jaipur Pink Panthers won the inaugural season of the Pro Kabbadi League in 2014. In the teaser, he says:
“I like to celebrate victory and I really don’t like losing.”
Through their official handle, the Pro Kabbadi team took to Twitter to announce how ‘The Panthers’ were all set to leave their mark beyond the mat.
Bachchan also shared the above picture with the caption: “6 years ago we started this exciting journey on a winning note. The 1st ever champions of the Pro Kabaddi League! We roared like panthers do! I am confident that my #SonsOfTheSoil will come back stronger.”
This will be Bachchan’s second outing with Amazon Prime Video. The actor made his digital debut with Breathe: Into The Shadows earlier this year. He was last seen in Anurag Basu’s Netflix film Ludo.
Amazon Prime Video India had announced way back in January 2020 that it was adding seven new originals to its library, of which Sons Of The Soil was also a part.
