ALTBalaji announces venture to tackle hunger problems due to Covid-19

ALTBalaji has announced its partnership with the Annamrita Foundation and ImpactGuru to raise funds to feed the hungry in India during the COVID-19 crisis.

The streaming platform will donate ₹1 for every subscription made till April 30, 2020.

All proceeds will be made through the ImpactGuru and will go to the Annamrita Foundation. The purpose of the foundation is to provide “nutritious and hygienic meals to various affected sections of the society” so that they can fulfil their mission of defeating COVID-19 “one meal at a time”.

Nachiket Pantvaidya, CEO of ALTBalaji and Group COO of Balaji Telefilms stated: 

It is the need of the hour for all of us to show support to each other and society. Through this effort, the aim is to reach out to the masses and appeal to them via leveraging the combined strength of platforms – ALTBalaji, ImpactGuru and Annamitra.  

The campaign will also be providing dry rations for daily workers and children in outskirts of India as well as in New Delhi, Faridabad, Gurgaon.

ALTBalaji is second to Netflix in terms of donations in the world of digital space. Last month, Netflix set up a $100 million relief fund for its creatives who are suffering due to the halt in productions caused by the pandemic.

Netflix India donated ₹7.5 crores to the daily wage workers in the country for the same cause.
