All India Bakchod ceases operations until further notice

The creative group specialising in sketches and dark humour has officially closed its doors for now. The product of four comedians, AIB came into the limelight in 2012 as they entertained audiences worldwide through comedic outputs on YouTube and other skits on various platforms.

The group ran into problems in early October 2018 when Utsav Chakraborty, a former employee of AIB was accused of sending sexually explicit images to multiple women without consent. The firm came under fire when Tanmay Bhat, who was CEO at the time, did nothing against Utsav even with knowledge of his actions.

In an elaborate post on Instagram, the group officially called it quits. Stating the lack of funding and overburdening expenses, the post declares that AIB has let go of all of its staff and office space thereby leaving the YouTube channel dead in the water.

Furthermore, actions have been taken against top management including firing Tanmay as the CEO of AIB. Similarly, Gursimran Khamba, another member who was accused of sexual harassment, was partly investigated and hence let go after deliberation.

Rohan Joshi and Ashish Shakya will remain to run small affairs while everyone goes solo. The post ended with an emotional goodbye detailing AIB’s commitment to making people laugh.

Recent controversies in the Indian comedic circuit brought a lot of issues to light and helped provide some justice to the victims.
