Indonesian film ‘Ali & Ratu Ratu Queens’ coming to Netflix on June 17

Netflix recently released the trailer for ‘Ali & Ratu Ratu Queens’. The Indonesian film based on mother-son bond is set to release on June 17.

The trailer shows 19-year-old Ali’s journey from Jakarta to New York in search of his mom, who had flown to the States back when he was a toddler to pursue her dreams. But once in New York, he has another challenge at hand to look for his mom in the big city. On this journey, he makes friends who help him reach his mother.

The official synopsis by Netflix reads:

“After his father’s passing, a teenager sets out for New York in search of his estranged mother and soon finds love and connection in unexpected places.

“After waiting for years, Ali decided to go to New York to find his mother, who left him when he was little. However, he soon finds himself facing unexpected challenges, and through that journey, discovers that there are many different ways to finding the real meaning of family.”

The movie stars Iqbaal Ramadhan as Ali along with Marissa Anita, Nirina Zubir, Tika Panggabean, Asri Welas, Happy Salma, Aurora Ribero. It is penned by screenwriter Gina S. Noer and directed by Lucky Kuswand.

The movie uses both languages Indonesian as well as English but is available with English subtitles.
