Akshay Kumar and Kiara Advani starrer Laxmmi Bomb is most likely to be released digitally.
The decision to forego a theatrical release comes in light of the present situation. With the outbreak of Coronavirus and the extension of the lockdown, the makers of the film are turning towards a ‘direct-to-web’ release.
Both Kumar and director Raghava Lawrence are reportedly in touch with Disney+ Hotstar to release Laxmmi Bomb directly on the OTT Platform.
The shooting of the film was completed at the beginning of March 2020. Considering the amount of post-production work left and the fact that the team is working from home, the makers are aiming for a June release.
The film was originally set to release in theatres on May 22.
According to a source:
Akshay wants to make sure none of the invested parties makes losses, and that the movie reaches a wide audience. While Disney+Hotstar ensures a worldwide reach, making the film available across small towns in India will be a concern for them.
Kumar first shared his look for the film back in October 2019:
Laxmmi Bomb is a remake of the hit Tamil horror-comedy Muni 2: Kanchana and revolves around a shy and timid man, Raghav(Kumar) who gets possessed by the spirit of a transgender named Laxmmi.
The pandemic has put a halt on mulitple film projects causing a serious crisis for the daily wage workers from the industry.
