Disney+ Hotstar has released the first look for its upcoming crime thriller web series titled, ‘Rudra: The Edge of Darkness’. The show will be led by Ajay Devgn, who is set to make his OTT debut in it.
‘Rudra: The Edge of Darkness’ is a remake of Idris Elba led thriller series, ‘Luther’, and will see Devgn essay the role of a gritty cop surrounded by a myriad of lethal challenges.
The Bollywood veteran is familiar with playing a police officer on screen, however, this character, according to him is “intense, complex and dark”.
Devgn said in a statement:
“My attempt has always been to tell unique stories and work with good talent. The idea is to raise the bar of entertainment in India. The digital world excites me, and I am looking forward to working with Applause and BBC to bring this series to life on Disney+ Hotstar VIP. Rudra – The Edge of Darkness is a compelling and highly intriguing story and I can’t wait to begin this new journey!”
The series has been produced by Applause Entertainment in collaboration with BBC Studios India.

The new Hotstar Specials web series is set to begin production soon with principle photography planned for across iconic locales of Mumbai.
The official release date is still under wraps.
