ZEE5 will launch five new Pakistani original web series as part of its revival of ‘Zindagi’, a ZEE network channel which aired shows from Pakistan on Indian TV.
It was known for bringing acclaimed Pakistani dramas, including Zindagi Gulzar Hai, Aunn Zara and Humsafar to the Indian audience.
The channel was taken down due to Indo-Pak tensions, but the streaming platform is set to revive Zindagi and all its content digitally. ZEE5 already has 1000+ hours of content to stream, but that’s not it.
Here’s a list of five brand-new originals coming to the platform:
Churails
Cast: Sarwat Gilani, Yasra Rizvi, Nimra Bucha and Mehar Bano
The narrative of Churails reportedly revolves around the struggle of women against patriarchy, gender discrimination, toxic masculinity and and misogyny.
Mann Jogi
Cast: Saba Qamar, Naumaan Ijaz, Uzma Hassan, Gul-e-Rana and Agha Mustafa Hassan
Not much has been revealed about this web series, except that it’s a mature love story that has been shot in different parts of Lahore.
Dhoop Ki Deewar
Cast: Sajal Aly, Ahad Raza Mir, Samiya Mumtaz, Manzar Sehbai, Adnan Jaffer, Zeb Rehman and Samina Ahmed
Dhoop Ki Deewar is a cross-border love story revolving around two teenagers whose lives take a drastic turn overnight. It has been described as “a love-hate story based on the love-hate relationship between people of India and Pakistan” by the playwright Umera Ahmed.
Abdullahpur Ka Devdas
Cast: Sarah Khan, Bilal Abbas Khan, Savera Nadeem and Ijaz
The details for this web series is yet to be revealed, but judging from the unique name and star cast it’s definitely something the viewers are eagerly looking forward to.
Aik Jhooti Love Story
Cast: Bilal Abbas Khan, Madiha Imam, Furqan Qureshi, Kinza Razzak Beo Zafar, Muhammad Ahmed and Kiran Haq
Aik Jhooti Love Story is reportedly a social comedy web series. It revolves around a love triangle and will see Khan play the role of a “typical Karachi boy”.
