200 Halla Ho on ZEE5: Amol Palekar, Barun Sobti led legal drama

ZEE5 has announced a new original film titled, ‘200 Halla Ho’. It has been inspired by true events and will star Barun Sobti and Amol Palekar (making his return to cinema after a decade), in the lead.

‘200 Halla Ho’ narrates the tale of an incident that, according to the film, “shook the nation”. The teaser shows a hoard of women barging into a courtroom during a hearing and what follows is utter chaos.

As per the creators of the project, the film is about “200 Dalit women who took law and justice in their own hands by lynching a gangster/robber/serial rapist in open court.”

The film also stars Rinku Rajguru and Sahil Khattar, among others. It has been written and directed by Sarthak Das Gupta, who said in a statement:

“I am grateful that I got an opportunity to use my craft through the medium of cinema to support women in their fight against inequality and injustice. ‘200 – Halla Ho’ is my way of contributing to the advancement of our collective consciousness about such things.”

The release date for ‘200 Halla Ho’ is August 20.
