5 young actors on OTT to watch out for

2020 was the year when a good chunk of Indian audience switched to OTT platforms for their daily dose of entertainment.

Not only we witnessed an upsurge in dynamic and experimental forms of entertainment, but we were also introduced to some young faces who left their marks with their freshness, energy and talent. 

Here is our list of 5 young actors to watch out for: 

Prajakta Koli

Prajakta Koli also known by her YouTube channel named Mostly Sane. With over 6 million subscribers on her YouTube channel, this YouTuber turned actor has collaborated with some of the big names of the entertainment industry. She is the Indian ambassador of YouTube’s initiative Creators for Change, performed in YouTube FanFest on 2018 and 2019. She was also one of the few Indians who were part of the virtual graduation ceremony Dear Class of 2020, by former President Barack Obama and former First Lady Michelle Obama. 

In 2020, Koli made her acting debut with short film Khayali Pulao. The film focused on the themes of women empowerment and gender. She made her Netflix debut with web series Mismatched, the adaptation of Sandhya Menon’s 2017 The New York Times bestseller When Dimple Met Rishi.  She is currently shooting for Dharma Productions film Jug Jug Jiyo.

Rohit Saraf

India is all in charms for Saraf’s charm and good looks. With his enigmatic screen presence, he is India’s latest crush. This success was not an overnight achievement, Saraf started his acting career with a recurring role in Channel V’s ‘Best Friends Forever? In 2012. Since then he was seen playing supporting roles in various ventures such as MTV Big F, and Dear Maya. He was also seen in Rani Mukherjee starrer Hichki. He also played the role of Amir in a Norwegian film What will People say?. He made his Bollywood debut with Dear Zindagi in 2016. His fan base grew tremendously with his role in The Sky is Pink. He recently made his OTT debut on Netflix with Anurag Basu’s film Ludo and romantic-comedy web series Mistmatched. 

Recently, he also appeared in Netflix India’s YouTube channel video What If Years Were People.

Tripti Dimri

Tripti Dimri made her Bollywood debut in 2017 with the film Poster Boys. She was later seen in 2018 film titled Laila Majnu. Over the years Dimri was also seen in many ad commercials and also did modelling before becoming an actress. Her Netflix debut with Anvita Dutt’s Bulbbul in 2020 was pathbreaking and got her recognition from the audience and the film fraternity.

Bulbbul is a paranormal thriller movie which unconventionally depicted the conventional social stigma, with Dimri in the lead role. Her portrayal of Bulbbul a demon woman was spectacular and was much applauded by the critics. 

Shreya Chaudhary

Shreya Chaudhary made her Bollywood debut with Sunaina Bhatnagar’s directorial Dear Maya in 2017. Over the years the actress has made appearances in many popular commercials of brands such as Lakme India, Sunsilk, Fabindia, Reliance Jewels, and Cadbury India.

She was also featured in the role of a runaway bride in Imtiaz Ali’s short film The Other Way. The film was released on YouTube in 2018. 

In 2020, she made her OTT debut with Bandish Bandits on Amazon Prime Video. The series was appreciated for its fresh theme and music. Chaudhary starred opposite actor Ritwik Bhowmik.

Tanya Maniktala

Tanya Maniktala made her acting debut with The Viral Fever’s Flames in 2018. Although the Delhi-based actress rose to fame after her stellar performance in BBC Television’s adaptation of Vikram Seth’s novel A Suitable Boy.

Even though the web series was in news for hurting religious sentiments of a certain community, the film fraternity was in all praise for the series and the actress.
