Disney+ Hotstar announces 16 original series and 4 films for 2021

Disney+ Hotstar has released its new, all-star line-up of titles for the year 2021 in a virtual event. Out of the 16 original shows and four films announced in different genres, shows such as ‘Aarya Season 2‘, ‘Special Ops 1.5‘, and films like ‘Bhuj: The Pride of India‘ and ‘Bhoot Police‘, find a place in the streamer’s latest calendar.

In addition to these, the streaming collection includes, period drama ‘The Empire‘, techno-thriller ‘Escaype Live’, ‘Fear 1.0’ and the cinematic adaptation of the book ‘Those Pricey Thakur Girls’ by Anuja Chauhan.

The viewers will also see medical drama ‘Human’, murder mystery ‘Six Suspects‘, Ajay Devgn’s ‘Rudra‘ and dance reality series ‘Dance+’.

The Disney+ Hotstar virtual event was hosted by Sunil Grover with its top stars in attendance including, Kunal Kapoor, Shabana Azmi, Shefali Shah, Kirti Kulhari, Siddharth, Richa Chadha, and Pratik Gandhi.

As per Sunil Rayan, President and & Head, Disney+ Hotstar, the streamer is doubling the titles this year and expanding its regional content along with live streams of popular cricket tournaments, including the Vivo IPL 2021 and the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.

The platform has introduced new subscription plans to make content more accessible across all languages by offering the full content catalogue access to the whole library of Disney content, Disney+ originals, latest American shows and Hollywood movies.

Expressing her views on her digital debut with epic drama ‘The Empire’ on Disney+ Hotstar, actor Shabana Azmi has stated that she is glad that women centric stories are being told increasingly through the digital medium, which is a long overdue move since women have been achieving so much across all fields.

Pratik Gandhi, whose first project on the web ‘Scam 1992’ garnered much love will be seen in ‘Six Suspects’ with co-actor Richa Chadha. She has proclaimed that pandemic time has been good for artists since the global platform has found a captivating audience.

Ajay Devgn, who is making his digital debut with Disney+ Hotstar’s crime-drama series ‘Rudra: The Edge of Darkness’ has explained that the tremendous reach of OTT space and some great content has propelled him to join the digital medium. He has further revealed that what excited him the most about ‘Rudra’ was its scale, edgy content, and depiction of grey world.

In season 1 Sen plays a robust gangster who takes on the drugs mafia and avenges her husband’s (Chandrachur Singh) murder. Season 2 will perhaps expose suspected villain Shekawat while featuring Sen’s fight with the real offenders, the evil Russian drug traffickers.

The Hindi-language spooky adventure comedy film, directed by Pavan Kirpalani and produced by Ramesh Taurani and Akshai Puri, exhorts the viewers to unravel the mysterious door of supernatural powers with laughter.
